A Maximilian type helmet dating: about 1540 provenance: Southern Germany, Skull in one piece, with low, roped comb and longitudinal fullers; fine visor with eye-slots and thin and rectangular ventilation holes, ribbed in the center, pivot with a button, chiselled for opening; beaver and neck-guard in one piece, with recessed edge and roped border, visor release button. Nape-guard of two plates with border en suite, both replaced by a skillful master, final plate reports his mark. Plume-holder decorated with oblique grooves, fixed with two rivets.
