A GROUP OF SILK RANK BADGES 18th/19th century Including a blue-scaled 'dragon' roundel, finely depicting a in profile five-clawed dragon pursuing a flaming pearl amidst vaporous clouds and the Eight Daoist Emblems, 29.5cm (11 1/2in) diam. ; a pair of 'mandarin ducks' rank badges, 19th century, made for a civil official of the seventh rank, depicting the bird gazing at the sun and standing on one leg above a rock emerging from wind-tossed waves, 30.5cm (12in) wide ; a 'crane' first rank badge for a child, circa 1900, embroidered with the bird gazing at the sun amidst ruyi clouds, 21.5cm (8 1/2in) wide ; a pair of 'emblemless' rank badges, 19th century, colourfully embroidered with clusters of ruyi clouds interspersed with the Eight Buddhist emblems, 26.8cm (10 1/2in) wide ; together with six pairs and five single bird and animal badge emblems and three sun discs, 19th century.
