1860 $20 AU58 PCGS. This medium-gold presents a sharp strike with smooth, minimally bagmarked surfaces. The coin displays preservation that epitomizes borderline Mint State condition -- only scant signs of circulation exist. A small mark at the E in STATES is noted, but it does not significantly impede the coin's overall appeal. More than 100 1860 double eagles recovered from the S.S. Republic greatly increased the number of near-Mint and Mint State 1860 examples, but based on its appearance, this coin does not appear to be one of the seawater recoveries.
