An early 18th century walnut veneered chest on chest, with detachable moulded cornice above two short and three long drawers, the base with three further long drawers all with brass drop handles and raised on bracket feet. Height 184 cm, width 110 cm, depth 55 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The chest is structurally sound. The cornice and crossbanded frieze are in good condition all round. The edge moulding beneath is all present. The drawer fronts are in generally good order with only minor edge nibbles to the crossbanding and losses of polish in places. The sides of the top are again in good condition with no significant splits or any losses. The base drawers are in similar condition to the top drawers. The handles are replacements but cover the original handle hole. The sides of the base have stress fractures to the veneer joins but no real problems . The bracket feet are all in good order.
