A STONE EMBELLISHED GILT COPPER ALLOY SCULPTURE OF A DEITY, POSSIBLY ACHALA OR VAJRAPANI TIBET OR TIBETO-CHINESE / SINO-TIBETAN, MAYBE 18TH TO 19TH CENTURY The deity striding in pratyalidhasana atop two snake demons on a double-rank lotus-petal base, the right arm raised and holding a krodha or sword, the left hand loosely grasping a pasha or lariat (a later replacement), the ferocious expression accentuated with glaring eyes and bared fangs, below a skull tiara or headdress, the corpulent body clad in a short pinwheel-patterned dhoti and adorned with a necklace, the figure with snakes or cobras knotted around the hair, and stomach, the wrists and ankles similarly coiled with a snake.The base is sealed with a plaque centered by a vajra design.
