HISTORY - (Jews in Algeria) Memorial of 1669 on the Jews from Africa to Nice

(Jews in Algeria) Memorial of 1669 on the Jews from Africa to Nice
Important manuscript document datable to 1669, which reports the decisions taken by the King of Sardinia about a community of Jews coming from the African city of Auran (now Oran in Algeria, at the time under Spanish domination) which arrived at the port of Villafranca di Nizza "desiderando di vivere sotto il dominio e protettione di V.A.R.". This request was satisfied by His Royal Highness who wishes to increase the trade of Nice and Villafranca. The document analytically reports the most important points on which it was decided, in administrative, economic, religious and cultural matters, in order to guarantee a fruitful integration of African Jews with the local population. 8 pages, in-4, in Italian. Water stains on the edges. Very interesting document of historical value.
