A carved walnut figure of the Virgin and Child, Utrecht, circa 1470/1480
Almost entirely carved in the round, the reverse slightly flattened and summarily carved. With minute remnants of former polychromy. A figure of the Virgin Mary standing in a gently swaying pose holding the squirming Christ Child with a bird with both hands in front of Her. The crescent moon at Her feet is partially concealed by the hem of Her gown and the separately attached points have been lost. The fine quality of the carving is particularly evident in the detailed rendering of the facial features, hair and costumes.
The Child's left leg lost. Vertical hairline cracks. Wear with minor losses. Height 45 cm.

Utrecht um 1470/1480, Madonna mit Kind
Nussbaum, annähernd vollrund geschnitzt, auf der Rückseite nur geringfügig abgeflacht und kursorisch durchgearbeitet. Wohl geringfügigste Reste einer ehemaligen farbigen Fassung. Im Kontrapost stehende Muttergottes, die das stark bewegte und zur Seite gewandte Jesuskind mit einem Vogel in seinen Händen seitlich vor ihrem Körper trägt. Von dem Saum ihres Gewandes wird eine Mondsichel verhüllt, deren ehemals angedübelten Spitzen jedoch ncht erhalten sind. Die hohe schnitzerische Qualität der reizvollen Skulptur zeigt sich besonders in der Ausarbeitung der Details der Physiognomien, der Haare und des Kostüms.
Linkes Bein des Kindes verloren. Vertikale Risse sowie Bestoßungen mit geringen Verlusten. Höhe 45 cm.
